Jewellery workshop

The Two-in-One exhibition is slowly coming to an end, and to mark the occasion we have prepared a one-day workshop on jewellery production directly in a specialised jewellery workshop, which is part of the newly established Jewellery Design Studio at the Faculty of Multimedia Communications. You will learn the skills needed to create original jewellery and work with precious metals, and both beginners and advanced makers can take part.
There are lots of great ideas and ideas of what a piece of jewellery could look like. Jewellery has been made for thousands of years, and its imaginative makers have been solving very similar problems all along the way. That’s why it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with proven jewelry making techniques and draw on your expertise to come up with an original, quality design. Jewellery school is a way to learn the skills needed to create useful and original jewellery. Participants will learn how to properly work with precious metals and gemstones. Beginners and more experienced participants alike will take away a ton of new information and skills that you can’t learn by watching YouTube and podcasts. You will learn techniques of soldering, metal shaping, hammering. Surface finishing, chasing, polishing, patination, etc.
We will show different ways of embedding stones in jewellery. How to make a smooth “cargle” setting, or how to set it into a carpen. What it is, the uncovered technique, garnet technique and more. The more advanced can venture into higher level jewelry making such as filigree techniques for making airy lightweight jewelry composed of a mosaic of tiny components. Filigree is one of the oldest jewellery making techniques, providing plenty of scope for new ideas. You’ll discover what to do to make your jewellery look its best and be durable at the same time.
