Screening of the movie LIDI

Since September, we have been proudly cooperating with the Q prostor Zlín association and this year, for the first time, we are part of the Slavex Pride event. On Wednesday, July 19 at 6 PM in the gallery there will be a screening of the film LIDI, which will be attended by the director of the film Kater Turecek. This will be followed by a set by DJ Muikku.
About the film
“You’re mine.” Non-binary director Kateř Tureček discusses, discovers and clarifies trans identity in a stylized documentary mosaic. The combination of professional filming, cell phone footage and 3D animation creates tension and juxtaposition between tradition, history, trans activism and intimate life. Because no man or tribe lives in isolation. Thus we peer into a family kitchen frying up schnitzels, the lavish preparations for the Ride of Kings, the removal of a bathroom strap, a prehistoric tribe meeting, or a fantasy about a president angered by the lack of legal protection for trans people. We recognize that euphoria comes from understanding. In support of marginalised groups, the film was made by a crew made up entirely of trans people and women. An honest insight into the lives of trans people in the Czech Republic through an intuitive identity film.
Kateř Tureček (1993) is mostly engaged in documentary filmmaking, pedagogy and activism. They come from Kyjov, Slovakia. They graduated from the Department of Documentary Filmmaking at FAMU in Prague. In their films they focus on taboo topics, the representation of authenticity and various formal approaches in documentary film. They use the public interest generated by the films to raise awareness of the issues in the media. Kateř focuses on community-based filmmaking in collaboration with marginalized groups of women filmmakers and returns to these principles in their presentation.
We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday at 6 PM!
